Open Hearts....Open Minds....Open Doors
Outreach MinistryMission outreach is very important at Grace and is fulfilled in many ways. Some of these are the church's payment of our apportionments to the United Methodist Church, including special offerings that come up during the year; the Pastor's Discretionary Fund, which contributes money to the Acts of Grace; and special projects by our Sunday school classes, youth organizations, the United Methodist Women and the United Methodist Men, where they provide money and/or services to worthy organizations. These include work at Salkehatchie and Habitat for Humanity as well as several trips to help rebuild areas hit hard by Hurricane Katrina. Grace also has a special Foundation for Mission Endowment Trust Fund that donates to a number of worthy organizations. Some of our other groups involved in this ministry are listed below. Acts of Grace/Pantry -- The Acts of Grace Committee administers the Pastor's Discretionary Fund. Individual church members contribute to the fund. Acts of Grace is a nurture-outreach ministry that provides limited aid and spiritual guidance to the community and to church members. The group shows compassion and sensitivity to the needs of others on a confidential basis and tries to reach as many people as possible. A pantry of nonperishable goods, donated by members, is maintained to assist those in need. Crisis Ministries -- On the fourth Wednesday of every other month members of the church provide dinner and serve at the two facilities of Crisis Ministries -- the homeless men's shelter and the family shelter. Crisis Ministries has provided food, shelter and hope to thousands of hungry and homeless individuals and families. All Grace members are invited to participate in this gratifying way to witness for the Lord.
